(USGovernment-News.Com, June 25, 2015 ) Boston, MA -- Gloucester has recently lead the initiative to combat addiction and drug offenders by offering treatment instead of incarceration; those policies will be enacted this month, and Boston's mayor Marty Walsh is watching Gloucester's success or failure, and will amend Boston's own drug policies "probably," according to Boston on June 15th. The new policy would stipulate those found with drug paraphernalia would be recommended to a treatment facility, instead of going to prison. Boston quotes Walsh, "I commend Gloucester for what they're doing, I think it's a great idea, a great pilot program. I'm looking forward to seeing how it works and taking that model and possibly using it here in Boston." When asked about when Boston would assume its new policy, Boston quotes Walsh saying, "[the] probably [is] pretty good. . . I'm not sure when, but it's probably fairly good odds."
