Marty McVey Designates Jason Luong Campaign Treasurer for Houston Municipal City Race

Houston, Texas – Businessman and Presidential Appointee for USAID, Marty McVey, designated Jason Luong as campaign treasurer for his bid for Houston City Mayor on Tuesday, January 20.



"Jason is a trusted friend to many and has given back to Houston," said McVey. "He has garnered accolades from his colleagues in the legal profession, his community, and business leaders. He is an asset to Houston and an innovator that will help me bring smart change to our city."



Luong has over a decade of civil and criminal trial experience. After graduating from Rice University and receiving his law degree from the University of Texas School of Law, with honors, Luong was selected to be a law clerk to a U.S. federal judge and then began his legal career at one of Houston's most prestigious civil law firms. In 2008, Luong left his civil practice to accept the position of Assistant District Attorney in Harris County, Texas, where he was one of only two Vietnamese-American prosecutors in Harris County. Luong has served as a Member of the Board of Directors of the Asian American Bar Association of Houston, and is currently a Member of the Board of Directors of SNAP (Spray-Neuter Assistant Program) Houston, a non-profit organization helping to address the stray animal issue in Houston. Luong currently has a law practice, The Law Office of Jason Luong, PLLC, where he handles both criminal and civil matters.



McVey is a founder and shareholder in multiple successful private equity and award-winning businesses in the real estate, alternate energy services and healthcare sectors. McVey is also a licensed Real Estate Broker in Texas. In 2011, he was appointed by the President of the United States to serve as a Director of the United States Agency for International Development [USAID*] Board for International Food and Agricultural Development [BIFAD].
