Could Interstate I-285 Be Deemed Unsafe?

(USGovernment-News.Com, January 20, 2015 ) Atlanta, GA -- Most people that are from Cobb County probably understand the I-285 / I-75 split by now. However, drivers that are not from the area and are not used to the path of this road may find themselves in trouble. In fact, that is exactly what happened Monday when an SUV with Michigan plates came through this area.

A witness to the event that occurred that explains that he saw the SUV quickly switch lanes at the split, and that the vehicle ended up hitting a pickup truck. He believes the driver of the SUV (who happened to be an elderly man) seemed confused by the split and attempted to make a quick decision.

The truck that was hit flipped many times as one of its passengers was ejected into the woods. That passenger was found in critical condition and there is a chance he may not survive. The truck’s driver was also taken to a nearby hospital. There was a third passenger, who survived, although he is understandably shaken up. It is currently unknown if any of the victims hired an Atlanta personal injury lawyer.

Charges against the driver of the SUV have not yet been determined, as investigators await confirmation that the injured parties have survived.

On a normal week day, the traffic at this split tends to be heavy and moves slower. However, Monday was Martin Luther King Day, and there were considerably less drivers on the road – which meant traffic was able to move at its maximum speed limit.

This incident has brought up questions for the local community. Should the speed limit around this interchange be reduced? Should there be adjustments to the split, such as a light or changes to its path?

One thing is for certain: when a traffic wreck results in injured victims, there are rights to be stood up for. Atlanta car accident lawyer John Foy and his team of associates are now accepting new cases such as these. Those that are interested may consult with an Atlanta personal injury attorney by dialing 404-879-7518 or by visiting http://www.johnfoy.com/car-accident-lawyer/ .
