Date rape occurs when a perpetrator uses physical or psychological intimidation to force a victim to have sex against his or her will. Date Rape is also drug-facilitated sexual assault that occurs when the perpetrator has sex with a victim who is incapable of giving consent because they have been incapacitated by alcohol alone or in combination with date rape drugs that are slipped into an unsuspecting victim's drink. Common date rape drugs are gamma hydroxy butyric acid (GHB), rohypnol (flunitrazepam) and ketamine (ketamine hydrochloride). These drugs have no taste, color or smell and can be easily added to flavored drinks without the victim's knowledge. These drugs may make the victim physically helpless, unable to refuse sex and lack any memory whatsoever of the event.
