(USGovernment-News.Com, January 13, 2015 ) Jackson, MI -- This morning, a log truck overturned while on Highway 84 (near MS 43). The spill occurred in Lawrence County, Mississippi, and it has caused all lanes on the major road to be blocked off. Lanes are blocked in both directions, and the road’s closure is expect to last until this afternoon, greatly impacting the traffic from the areas that surround it. Luckily, no one has been hurt by the log truck’s accident yet. Drivers should clearly plan an alternate route, but those that are left unaware of the closure are put at risk.
When a closure in the road unexpectedly takes a driver out of their planned routine, they are left to quickly scramble and find an alternate route. Drivers that don’t notice a closure may end up making sudden and unpredictable driving decisions, such as quickly moving into another lane. This can be especially dangerous if they are traveling at a high rate of speed.
This isn’t the only trouble that Highway 84 for has seen lately.
Earlier this month, over in Georgia, a woman 34 year old woman was immediately killed after being hit by a brown GMC pickup truck. This unfortunate incident also occurred on Highway 84, and it is unknown why she was walking or standing in the road. Both the driver of the pickup, and the victim herself, are being tested for drugs and alcohol use.
