The Ed Bernstein with Marty Allen on "Hello Dere"

(USGovernment-News.Com, October 06, 2014 ) The Ed Bernstein Show has a very exciting guest this week. Iconic comedian Marty Allen will be joining Mr. Bernstein to discuss how he broke into show business, his many appearances on The Ed Sullivan show and his new book, entitled “Hello Dere”.

From a young age, Marty Allen loved entertaining people, but his life has proved him much more than just a comedian. Marty went directly into the Air Force after high school during World War II. While stationed in Italy, Allen kept a fuel truck from getting caught by sparks flying off a plane. He was rewarded for his heroism with both a medal and a full-dress parade.

Marty didn’t start as a big star. He made a short living as a door-to-door dance lesson salesman. It meant he would show up at your house, with music in tow, and give you a half an hour dance lesson. He is quoted as saying that he gave up the door-to-door-dance business because it was costing him “…a fortune in new shoes and foot powder”. After that, he left college in order to pursue what was shaping up to be a successful and lucrative career as a comedian.

It was in the 1950’s that Marty Allen began opening for big names such as Nat “King” Cole before he joined with Steve Rossi to create a smashing comedy duo. In one episode of the Ed Sullivan show, Allen & Rossi were set to appear just after the Beatles performed on the show. They showed their comedy brilliance and improvised a few lines; poking fun with the band and parodying famous Beatles songs in order to win over the young Beatlemania-filled audience.

Now in his 90’s, Allen is still cracking jokes and causing fits of laughter wherever he goes. His new book “Hello Dere” is now on sale on Amazon. The book is an autobiography of Marty Allen and is sure to leave you in stitches.
