(USGovernment-News.Com, October 10, 2013 ) NEW HAVEN, CT — A first grade student was scalded as he attempted to open a cafeteria lunch provided by Pennell Elementary in Philadelphia on Friday, October 4.
The student, 7-year-old Ja-Kaye Robinson, was opening a package of turkey meat he purchased from the school cafeteria when the juices from the meal sprayed his face, causing second-degree burns.
Though school officials rushed Robinson to the principal’s office, the boy’s parents want to know why the school nurse was nowhere to be found, and just how hot the school lunch was that it could burn his face. “Why would you feed a 7-year-old first grader food that hot? Why? It don’t make no sense,” said Robinson’s father John Ambrose.
A spokesman from the school distracted agreed that food should not be served hot enough to scald a child’s face, and that the temperature at which the turkey meat was served will be investigated.
