(USGovernment-News.Com, August 15, 2013 ) Phoenix, AZ – According to the World Health Organization, America’s roads are considered more dangerous than some of Europe’s due to the number of highway deaths per capita. Although the U.S does not have anything as notorious as Bolivia’s “death road” there were 10 that stood out including interstate 10 in Arizona.
I-10 runs from Phoenix all the way to the California border covering approximately 150 miles. Although the area is lightly populated, I-10 accounts for more than 80 fatal accidents each year. An entire website has even been set up to log the many accidents that occur on this dangerous stretch of road.
Overall in Arizona, the state had more than 103,000 car accidents reported, less than 1 percent of these were fatal. Based on the number of fatal I-10 accidents and those by the Arizona Department of Transportation, I-10 accounts for 11% of the state’s fatal collisions.
Primed with such information drivers should be particularly cautious when driving on this interstate as the chances of being involved in a collision are high.
