(USGovernment-News.Com, April 05, 2013 ) Phoenix, AZ – On Thursday morning an SUV collided with a school bus in the urban community of San Tan Valley. Around 6:30 a.m. the SUV was traveling at high speeds when it crashed into a school bus near Bella Vista Road and Quail Run Lane. There were 12 children aboard the bus, but according to authorities no children were hurt during the incident.
Earlier in the morning the Pinal County Sheriff’s Department received a call about a reckless driver in the area and it is believed to have been about the same SUV that collided with the school bus.
The SUV driver sustained minor injuries and was taken to the hospital, officials are unsure if the driver was impaired at the time of the accident.
According to the Arizona Department of Transportation nearly 200 motor vehicle accidents in 2011 involved a school bus. Additionally, in 2011 Pinal County was the site of 232 car accidents most of which caused multiple accident injuries.
