(USGovernment-News.Com, April 04, 2013 ) Recently, there was a recall on 1.9 million Hyundai and Kia cars due to electrical faults which have resulted and may result in further airbag injuries. These recalls are effective in both the United States and Puerto Rico. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reported electrical problems which may cause multiple electrical systems to fail and causing side airbags to cause injury.
The problem is located in the brake light switch which has been known to turn on and off as a result of manufacturing problems with electrical contacts, thus resulting in failure of the brake light signal. The faulty systems include; push button ignition, shift lock system, cruise control, and the warning lights. These features may also cause the brake lights to activate without pressing the pedal.
The Hyundai models which are being affected by the recall include; the 2007-2009 Tucson and Accent, 2007-2011 Santa Fe, 2007-2010 Elantra, 2008-2009 Veracruz, 2011 Sonata and 2010-2011 Genesis Coup. The Kia models which are being recalled include; 2007 Sedona, 2007-2010 Rondo and Sportage, 2007-2011 Sorento, 2011 Optima and 2010-2011 Soul.
