(USGovernment-News.Com, March 07, 2013 ) Sacramento CA – On Tuesday morning, a California Highway Patrol motorcycle officer was struck by a vehicle on Stockton Boulevard north of 37th Avenue. The accident took place at 11:35 a.m. when a green Mercedes was exiting a nearby restaurants parking lot. The driver claims to have not seen the officer when he pulled out into the roadway giving the officer no time to react to the situation.
The motorcycle smashed into the rear fender of the Mercedes, hurling the officer over the car. Sacramento Police were the first on the scene, aiding the officer until medical personnel arrived. The officer did not suffer from any life-threatening injuries.
Regardless if this motorcyclist was an officer or not, we must look twice for motorcycles when entering our roadways. By doing so, we will be able to prevent accidents like this from occurring and greatly reduce the number of motorcycle injuries and fatalities each year.
