(USGovernment-News.Com, February 22, 2013 ) WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.- Gordon & Doner, a Florida personal injury law firm, wants to warn residents that hit-and-run crashes are on the rise. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, hit-and-run accidents have increased over the past two years. In 2012, nearly 70,000 hit-and-run crashes occurred across the state.
Unfortunately, South Florida has seen its share of hit-and-run crashes. Last year, Broward County ranked second among Florida’s counties for hit-and-runs, with 7,587 crashes, up 8 percent from 2011. Palm Beach County had 3,381 hit-and-run accidents in 2012.
In addition, fatalities from hit-and-run crashes have also increased from 162 in 2011 to 168 in 2012.
Recently there have been several tragic hit-and-runs in South Florida including Loxahatchee, Miramar and Sunrise.
The Florida Highway Patrol advises drivers to remember CRASH, if they are hit-and-run accident: Call law enforcement; Remain calm; Attain vehicle, witness and driver information; Sketch the scene and Help the injured.
